EXHIBITIONS-BIENNALES-SHOWS

HOME Kochi Biennale 2016

Kochi, Kerala

The project examines issues surrounding the most desired human habitat: the Home. In theory, it is composed of many singular ideas but through their common assembly transform into one large conceptual, monumental and collective thought challenging the prevalent stratification and segregation that plagues society. ‘HOME’ takes form through assembling multiple ideas into one monumental , conceptual and spatial form as a collection of individual perspectives and desires.  Notions of centrality, familiarity, the local, the native, family, aspirations, comfort and also  their counterparts of insecurity, displacement, commodification, diverse economic values, possession and temporality play together in a collective memory of images, models, photographs and drawings. Narratives, knowledge, collection, memory, continuous interpretations and inferences between the drawings and objects assembled force the viewer to re-imagine and interpret forms of domicile we encounter in our contemporary context across cultures. The work resembles a menagerie of built forms, images and suggestions about the relationships we all have with the most familiar places from our past and present but also creates a space for expansion, redirection and new productions questioning what the future of how we live should and could be. It is not an ode to craftsmanship or revival techniques, but examines the appropriatenessof choices, aesthetics and material manoeuvres as simple procedures that are integral to MAKING design happen. It looks at building the world of WONDER and expression of life-stories through design and the objects we design and embody!” – Curator Kaiwan Mehta ( MAKING AND WONDER )

DARCHIST IV Gallery Dtale Archist Bangalore 2025

The works of Rajeev Thakker straddle imagined abstractions and practical applications. Black and white photographic montages are overlaid with fine lines on a floating panel, adding depth and dimensionality to what may otherwise have been a superficial engagement. Seeming to seek out a utopian ideal, the artworks use the most primitive of platonic forms and colours set against the familiarity of architectural language. –Curator Bose Krishnamachari (from GQ Article Imprints at Gallery DTale Archist, Bengaluru’s buzzy art establishment that celebrates artistic individuality
